Passover Cleaning

Home Clean Home is a Brooklyn based, Shomer Shabbat cleaning company specializing in Passover cleaning for over 20 years.  Nicole Levine, CEO of HCH, is a native of Israel that understands the significance of a Chometz-free home.

A team of bonded, insured, uniformed and well trained professionals provide unparalleled Pesach cleaning services. They use their own all-natural supplies, and are equipped with Hepa vacuum, steam machine, carpet machine and floor scrubbers to clean each home and make it chametz-free.

In preparation for Pesach, HCH takes apart, cleans, and puts the house back together : scouring the kitchen, vacuuming all corners, flipping mattresses paying close attention to where chamez are found. They will even shake the seforim and check the clothing pockets, cleaning behind the stove, oven, and refrigerator to make sure that there is no trace of chametz, going over the cleaning with a white glove and Q-tip .Throughout the day  the house is checked by a Masgiach, which they can provide. The only thing left to do is cook!

There are various Halachot, regarding how to properly clean the house of Chametz. Some wish to get rid of all the Chometz from their homes, while others wish to keep the Chametz in a designated cabinet, closet or room. Whichever custom you prefer, the Home Clean Home crew is well familiar with the customs and will provide the service that suits your needs.

Passover is weeks away, getting our homes Chametz free can be quite a workload. Home Clean Home has been providing New York’s Jewish community with Passover cleaning for over 2 decades. Their Pessach services are offered in Brooklyn, Manhattan (NYC), Queens, Long Island, Staten Island, and New Jersey. To contact them, please call 718-627-5781 and ask for Meira Levine’s. Additionally, you can check them out online at www.hchinc.net.

Fall Tips Continued: Carpet Cleaning Time

Cleaning old carpets can make them look like new, but also benefits your health.

Fall is a great time to lift and vacuum under things, get edgings and corners, and clean out the vacuum bag, but vacuuming alone won’t lift away the grime.

It is recommended you clean your carpets once every 6 months to a year and a half. Not only does sanitizing your carpet make it look like new, it also has many important health benefits.

Home Clean Home does carpet and upohlstry shampoo. You can keep up the clean by vacuuming once a week, more for high-traffic areas. Alternatively, we can remove carpets for easier clean up throughout the year.

Now is a good time to schedule a professional cleaning before the fall rush. Please call 718-627-5781 or send us your inquiry to find out more about our carpet and upholstery cleaning services. For more information, you can also go to our extensive FAQ section.

Back to School: Fall Clean-Up Checklist

Fall Clean Up

Get ready for fall! With summer drawn to a close, the new season is the perfect interlude to get your house in order for the coming school year.

Fall organizing and cleaning can be overwhelming, especially for working students and parents, but a clean house will provide a sense of calm, and a haven throughout the rest of the year.

Home Clean Home can help you start the new season fresh. We have a list of handy tips to help you organize, declutter and clean to get your family on schedule for school. If you need help getting your house in order, we can help! For a complete list of our housekeeping services, click here.

Kid’s rooms

Clean: If you have kids, why not enlist them as helpers? Kids can clean and polish their things, so that the objects in their rooms are not grimy and dusty during the school year. Create a place where kids can air out their clothes they wore that day. For easy, fresh hang up later, throw recently worn, lightly soiled items over a room divider. Likewise, throw a heavy comforter over the door to air it out for a few hours, and when you or your kids arrive from school, they just have to toss it over the bed to make it. Simple things like this can help keep the room tidier throughout the school year.

Organize: Rather than chasing after your children all year to clean their rooms, take some time to help them organize now. Creating a place for every object in a room helps children to know where to put things back when their done. At HCH, we can build display cubbies, alcoves and shelves, as well as help organize things such as toys, books, jewelry, clothes and other belongings to help keep your family organized as the year goes on. Make sure all your dresser-tops are clean and clutter free. Then add a bowl for change, a tray for keys, or a box for jewelry, to help minimize potential messes.

Declutter:

If there is still a lot of clutter in your child’s room, don’t despair. Look at their rooms and see what messes they have the most often. Still leaving toys everywhere? Storing less used items in another place, or below eye level, can help to create more room for other things. Too many clothes on the floor still? HCH can help you reduce clutter. We can take extra items, such as summer clothes, to a storage facility, build shelves in your storage unit to help you safely stow items, and create or find additional storage space in your home.

Study and Office Areas

Clean: A clean work area can help you get your or your children on schedule for school. Fall is obviously a great time to refresh your a study area. Stock up on extra school and office supplies! Keeping your desk clean is a great way to keep a calm mind and clear head when it comes time to study, or to help your children focus.

Many people do not know how long to hold on to old papers. Some papers you can dispose of immediately, and some should be held onto. Files about investments in your home you should keep until you sell it, while monthly bills can be disposed of as soon as you get a confirmation. The IRS asks you to hold onto tax bills for seven years.

Declutter: For children, teaching them how to create a space for homework and school supplies can cut down on clutter in the rest of your home. Get rid of broken school supplies, and stock up on some newer, more useful ones. Then, make sure they all have a home, so they don’t end up everywhere.

Adding a calendar to the wall can be a great way to mark down events and then throw away the invites, so that you don’t miss them, but that they don’t’ clutter up your desk.

Create a separate folder for tax information and housing records so that they don’t get mixed up with your accounts payable and receivable. We can also help you declutter your home office. If you need someone to help you go through your papers with you, we can bring a paper shredder.

Organize: It’s easy to tell how effective someone is by taking a look at their desk. If papers are lying everywhere, or shoved in folders, you can bet they probably haven’t looked at them. For adults, where desks double as bill centers, proper organization is even more critical. If you don’t have somewhere to stow loose paper clips, fresh paper, pens, or incoming notices, it can be hard to find them when you need them. An organizational system can be helpful to anyone.

Organize: Come up with a filing system that works for you.  A few stackable trays and folders probably won’t cut it, although creating an in and an out box, or accounts payable and receivable, can help you keep track of to-dos. It might be better to dust off an old filing cabinet, or buy a new one. And they don’t have to be ugly or unwieldy, or expensive. Filing cabinets range from large to small, and can help you to organize loose papers.

Living room and common areas

Clean: High traffic areas acquire the most grime. Cleaning and decluttering them can give you that clean house feel, and allow you or your children to better focus after a busy day.

After lazy summer days, take the time to wash these areas from top to bottom. Floors, baseboards, walls and windows are all fair game. Move furniture and clean under it. It’s even a good time to clean out bowl light fixtures on your ceiling, or wash your drapes.

HCH can offer you the benefit of our expertise. If you’ve done your best to eliminate the grime, we can come clean it for you. We can also help you strip and wax your floors.  For a heavy clean try using an all-natural emulsifier like our HCH Pine Cleaner for high gloss surfaces: just a quarter of a cup in a gallon of water is enough to instantly make your walls several shades lighter.

Declutter:. If you’re living room is starting to overflow with stuff, begin by clearing off surfaces, and cleaning up your home office. The same goes for the hallways:  you don’t want to have things piled up on the floor, or falling off of shelves. Try relocating items from the hallway into other storage, or taking this time to organize and put them away. If that zen look still evades you, HCH specializes in clutter clean-up.

Organize: If you have a lot of clutter, organizing things into categories and groups will help you decide what space you have to store or display or put them away. We can also help you build shelves, storage and displays for your valuables and collections.

Kitchen

Clean: Time to dust off the kitchen! If you didn’t cook a lot or ordered out during the summer, this fall can be a great time to heavy clean your oven for the coming holiday season Home Clean Home, we can help you with heavy cleaning and organizing.

Organize:. We can help you organize and or repair your cupboards and shelves and pantry, and arrange your pant fridge or freezer. We can build extra shelving for you or a pantry if you need more space. This is also the perfect time to stock up on healthy snacks for school, and frozen veggies!

Declutter: Time also to throw away leaking ice cream, or clean out your vegetable drawer, and maybe your pantry, so you can swap out summer junk food with healthy school. Clear off your counters for a cleaner look, throwing away old summer snacks or unused appliances.

Closets

Out with the old, in with the new! Get out your winter duvet. Update fall fashions, or pull your fall and winter clothes out of storage.

Clean: HCH can also Green Steam Clean out that moth smell out of items, and release old wrinkles.

Declutter: It’s a good time to get rid of clothes that are too small, or worn out. If you don’t want to throw away clothes that don’t fit any more, there are some options. Why not put them in storage, or donate them?  We can help you with all of these options.

If there is something that you haven’t worn in over a year, this could be also be a great time to swap it at a used clothing store. You can also avoid clutter by investing in classic, timeless items, in base colors, rather than investing in the color of the moment.

Organize: With the chance of seasons, store summer clothes and swap out your fall or winter items, to maximize space. We can help you hang up your winter coats, pull them out of storage, or in preparation for the season around the corner.

Bathrooms

Clean, Clean, Clean: Time to clean out that beach sand! A bathroom deep clean means that the room may only need touch-ups throughout the season. However, if you’ve been avoiding it because you hate scrubbing, HCH has a solution. Instead of elbow grease, try our HCH BioClean Enzyme Digestant®. It will painlessly clean bathroom tiles and grout. You can also put it in a spray bottle, and use it as a bathroom cleaner throughout the year. We also use it for our cat hoarder clean up projects, so you can finally achieve that fresh smell you’ve desired in your home.

Hoarding Clean-Up FAQ

Hoarding is a disorder, according to recent studies, that is not related to OCD, as previously thought. In some cases, hoarders may experience anxiety when determining what to keep, and what to throw away.

No two hoarders are alike, and at Home Clean Home we understand that.  We are very sensitive and knowledgeable in dealing with hoarding issues, and have experience working with a wide variety of New Yorkers.

We help you with clutter clean-up.

At HCH, we tailor our service to sooth each and every client’s needs. Specialist consult and work one-on-one with clients, hearing them out, allowing us to customize our process, and and answer any questions clients may have.

These are some of your most frequently asked questions:

Do you come in a marked car?

Hoarding is a sensitive issue, so for these jobs we never come in a marked car. We always do our utmost to protect your privacy, and take every possible precaution.

Q. Do you tell any authorities?

No. We never notify any authority and never report you to anyone. Not only will never tell anyone you’ve had your home cleaned, no one will ever know unless you tell them.

Q. Would my neighbors know?

Not unless you tell them. We do work with the utmost discretion to clean up your apartment and ensure that no one knows what we are doing. If there is an extensive amount of garbage, we wait until we have as many bags as possible before removing anything from the home, trying try to do all the waste removal at once. We will fill up the elevator of your apartment building, or if need be the backyard of your house, and move it all at one time to our car to haul the junk.

In addition, we will also work whatever hours you think necessary for privacy, including early mornings, afternoons, nights and weekends. If a neighbor asks what we are doing, we can say whatever you want (for example, we are doing spring cleaning, but that you are very neat):  however, most people never even know what’s happening to ask.

Q. Do you provide extermination?

Hoarders often have to deal with pests introduced to the home. After a heavy cleaning is the perfect time to exterminate, as decluttering and proper preparation pave the path for effective extermination. In some cases, excessive garbage or food can attract pests like mice or roaches, while pet hoarders may suffer attendant fleas, ticks or smells, which we can also removed.  In other cases, collected items from the street may introduce bed bugs to the apartment, in which case we offer bed bug cleaning and extermination. It not only helps mitigate the spread of pests and zoonotic disease, it can help to restore peace of mind. All of our heavy duty cleaning products and extermination products are all-natural, safe for the homes and pets.

Q. Can you offer me handyman and construction services?

Absolutely. Restoration services are very much needed when your home has fallen into disrepair, or been heavily damaged by pets. Home repair and maintenance can include anything from repairing cabinet doors, or structural damage such as holes, to painting and remodeling your home.

Q. Would you help me organize my house?

Yes. We will build units to help you organize, safely store, or display your valuables. We can build closets and shelves to help organize collections such as books, DVD’s, clothing, and more. If the number of items exceeds the storage space in your home, we will also build you an area in your storage facility to help you hang artwork or stow sculpture, etc. If you prefer to donate a collection or item, we will  drop off at the library or a place of your choosing.

How does your company assure my valuables will be safe?

All of our workers are fully bonded. Let us know beforehand if you have valuables tucked around the house, what we will send only one or two workers, and they will work with you section by section, item by item, so that you never have unsupervised workers in another room. This can help you find or sort your items without throwing valuable things away. If you’re a paper hoarder, they can also go through your papers with you page by page with you to see what you want shredded for paper waste removal, and what papers you want to saved for your records.  We can bring a paper shredder for those who have old stored old bills and receipts, so that they can be disposed of safely.

Q. Will you help me continue to keep my home clean?

You don’t have to continue to try to keep your home clean. We can provide a maid service to you once a week, as well as necessary supplies for house cleaning. From beginning to end, Home Clean Home will work with you and help guide you through the process, no matter how big the mess.

Q. What do you help with?

At HCH, we will  take the following steps to help New Yorkers with their clutter clean-up:

  1. 1. Identify and remove garbage
  2. 2. Heavy duty cleaning
  3. 3. Extermination
  4. 4. Odor neutralization
  5. 5. Restoration and organization
